Project Overview: Inside the 7m LED Dome Project in Muscat, Oman
In Muscat, Oman, MileStrong supplied a 7-meter diameter dome LED display system for a conference and exhibition center, delivering an immersive visual environment for the venue.

The project used P2.5 SMD LED technology across approximately 38.5㎡ of display area, with a dome diameter of 7 meters and a height of 3.5 meters. Work ran from August 3 to August 13. MileStrong’s scope covered LED display system supply, structural design, control system integration, installation guidance, and on-site commissioning.
Unlike a standard flat LED video wall, this project required LED displays to be installed onto a curved dome structure with significant curvature. The primary challenge was not simply scaling up the display area. It was coordinating the curved structure, cabinet installation, display continuity, and immersive viewing experience as a coherent system.

Project Challenges: What Made This Dome LED Project Challenging?
For a standard flat LED display, standard cabinets splice together horizontally and vertically in a straightforward grid. A dome LED installation works completely differently.
With a 7-meter dome diameter and custom curved cabinets, the display surface needed to follow the curvature of the dome structure continuously. The cabinets could not rely on floor support — instead, they were fixed at the upper structure, distributing the load to reduce the risk of localized structural deformation.
For a conference and exhibition center where viewing distances are close, image continuity, detail quality, and high refresh rate all directly affect the experience.
The dome installation position — overhead — also raised a maintenance consideration. If service technicians needed to frequently dismantle surrounding structural elements or navigate complex rear-access spaces, maintenance workload and operational risk would both increase. Long-term serviceability needed to be addressed in the design.
The project therefore needed to resolve four specific problems:
- How to make LED cabinets conform to the dome curvature
- How to maintain structural stability through top suspension
- How to deliver continuous, sharp immersive imagery at close viewing distances
- How to make ongoing maintenance practical and safe
Project Solution: How to Engineer the Dome LED Display for Immersive Performance
MileStrong addressed the structural, display, motion content, and maintenance requirements through four targeted design decisions: cabinet geometry, pixel pitch, refresh rate, and maintenance access.

1. Custom Curved LED Cabinets
To handle the dome curvature, the project used custom curved LED cabinets that allow the display surface to be assembled along the dome structure. This custom structural approach is fundamental to achieving the immersive visual effect.
With a dome diameter of 7 meters, a height of 3.5 meters, and a dome radius of approximately 3.5 meters, the custom cabinet design allows the display surface to follow the spatial curvature naturally — rather than being installed as a flat screen placed in front of the dome.
For the installation method, cabinets are fixed at the upper structure, creating a stable mounting relationship with the dome space.
2. P2.5 LED for Close-Range Immersive Viewing
For a viewing distance of approximately 3 meters, the project uses P2.5 LED displays. At this distance, viewers still receive a continuous, cohesive visual experience without visible pixel structure.
For an immersive LED dome, pixel pitch selection needs to balance viewing distance, display area, and content type — not simply chase the smallest available pitch. P2.5 delivers strong image detail at close range while remaining appropriate for a large-format dome application.
3. High Refresh Rate for Smooth Motion
The project is configured at 3,840Hz to meet the display demands of dynamic visual content.
Immersive displays in conference and exhibition centers typically play video, motion visuals, and high-change-rate content. Dynamic content places significantly more demand on the LED system’s refresh performance than static imagery. At 3,840Hz, the system delivers stable output for motion content while also supporting on-site photography and video recording.
4. Front Maintenance for Easier and Safer Service
Beyond display performance and structural design, the project addressed long-term maintenance. Front-access maintenance was adopted for this installation.
For an LED display system installed within a dome space, front maintenance allows technicians to carry out module-level service from the display face — without needing to dismantle surrounding structural elements or navigate the rear of the installation.
Project Process: From Structural Design to System Commissioning
For a custom dome LED project, the final result depends on coordination between structure, installation, and system commissioning — not on the LED Display product alone.

MileStrong’s scope for this project covered:
- LED display system supply
- Custom structural design
- Control system integration
- Installation guidance
- System commissioning
In the dome immersive display space, MileStrong has developed a complete service chain covering creative planning, solution design, hardware integration, technical support, and post-delivery maintenance.
For different dome project types, MileStrong can engage in early-stage solution planning and display system design based on space dimensions, structural form, viewing distance, and application requirements — combining custom LED cabinets, structural design, and control systems to provide project-level technical support. On-site delivery services extend to installation guidance, system commissioning, and ongoing maintenance support, helping clients build a complete implementation process from initial planning through to live operation.
Project Result: A Custom Dome LED Screen for Flexible Exhibition Experiences
The completed 7-meter LED dome project in Muscat, Oman delivers a customized immersive display system purpose-built for a conference and exhibition center.

Through custom curved LED cabinets, P2.5 LED display technology, 3,840Hz high refresh rate, and front maintenance design, the project simultaneously resolved the challenges of dome curvature, close-range viewing, dynamic content performance, and long-term serviceability, giving the conference and exhibition center a visual presentation format with genuine spatial depth and immersive quality.
More importantly, the project demonstrates the application potential of LED Dome Display in conference and exhibition environments. It is not limited to a single themed experience — content can be updated flexibly to suit different exhibitions, events, and brand campaigns.
From this 7-meter LED dome project in Oman to future exhibition centers, immersive experience spaces, science and technology showcases, and cultural tourism installations, MileStrong continues to explore the intersection of LED display technology and spatial design — providing customized dome display solutions for a wide range of applications.
